It’s your child’s senior year of high school; they are ready to embark on this new adventure replete with all of the joys of being near their graduation. To commemorate this milestone event, you decide to throw a graduation party in addition to the school’s normal “Senior Project Graduation.” The planning need not be difficult; it can be quite simple and enjoyable actually.
Consider activities for your child’s special party such as commemorative crafts, a slide show and a special menu for your graduate and his/her friends. Party supplies are easy to find online at reasonable prices at party supply sites such as Ziggos.com. Party supplies might include balloons, favors, games, prizes, table decorations, wall decorations and you can even find little graduation caps for party hats. These supplies will help make the party memorable.
When it comes to decor for the graduation party, ideas are only limited by your imagination. Most seniors enjoy party decorations that feature their school colors. Graduation is often an emotional time and graduates are sure to enjoy themed graduation décor that reflect various attributes of the school they have spent the last few years attending. Display class photos of the graduates as they progressed from kindergarten through graduation. Cut out mortarboard hats, glue tassels on them and place them on the walls or hang them around the party space; be sure to use school colors.
A graduation party just isn’t complete without a slide show running in the background of the party. You might include pictures from your child’s early years all the way up to his or her present day; include slides of close friends and family that have become special in your child’s life. This slide show should also include the graduate’s accomplishments and any awards they might have gotten throughout their young life. Other memorable moments such as their first step, first toothless grin, first time riding a bike and first date could also be included in the slide show. Slide shows are a great way to reflect on your child’s past.
The menu for the graduation parties can be fun to plan and easily done without breaking your pocketbook or budget. Finger foods and snacks are usually the best option for eating enjoyment. A few fine finger food examples are sub sandwiches, hot dogs, a taco bar, cheese and cracker trays, fruit trays and veggie trays; you cannot go wrong with a finger food snack buffet. Snacks like chips, dips, pretzels, cookies, candies, ice cream and anything else that can be eaten during the party or festivities are easy to serve and always enjoyed. Be sure to include sodas, juice, water or any other drink of choice.
The most important aspect of planning the graduation party is to incorporate the ideas of the graduate. Consulting with your graduate and using their planning ideas will give them a sense of pride and accomplishment in knowing they helped put the party together. The real bonus of conferring with your graduate for party planning is spending precious time with them before they move on to their next step, whatever that may be.
